My painting style would be considered as Impressionistic.Early on I painted children, based on memories ( both personal and borrowed) of my childhood, growing up in the country and remembering exciting trips to the seaside.Often simple rural memories of the fishing hole, or waiting in the back of the old ute.
Details and features remain ambiguous, inviting the viewer to see something for themselves in the work.
I have a passion for the layering effect of thick paint - an impasto style of painting - and a love of the palette knife for dramatic effect.
Lately I've been influenced by textiles and fashion, especially the light and shade of the folds in material. I've also loved doing my zebra and goat series, big,bold colors to brighten any wall, and of course those gossiping birds.
